Description of Treatment Process:
Columbia Wastewater Treatment Plant is a Grade II activated sludge treatment plant utilizing
two 375,000 gal. Oxidation ditches supplying four 65,000 gal. primary clarifiers, 12,000 gal.
effluent holding tank, flow paced sodium hypochlorite chemical feed disinfection, two 11,500
gal. post aeration basins with sodium bisulfate chemical feed dechlorinating system, 52,000
gal. sludge digester tank, a 154,000 gal. sludge holding tank and a 200,000 gal. sludge holding
tank.

Explanation of Reportable NPDES Violation:
The Enterococci Avg Monthly limit was .5m1 over the limit for the month of July
Highlights:
Columbia Wastewater Plant achieved a 99.9% BOD removal and a 99.8%TSS removal on
average for the 2020 year.

Description of System:
The Columbia sewer collections system consists of five town maintained pumping stations
(including the WWTP influent pumping station) and 63,626 ft. of sewer lines with 185
manholes.
