Johnston County Public Utilities
Wilson's Mills Pump Station Improvements
The Wilson's Mills Wastewater Pump Station (PS) receives all wastewater flow from the Town of
Wilson's Mills. The Wilson's Mills PS (WQ005898) has a firm capacity of approximately 500 gallons per
minute (gpm) and conveys wastewater through a series of common force mains (FM) to the Central
Johnston County Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) (NC0030716). The Wilson's Mills PS pumps
wastewater directly into a 12-inch FM known as the Miles FM (WQ007923Mod).
The Wilson's Mills PS has reached its permitted paper capacity for allocated future flows associated with
new development. The Town of Wilson's Mills is continuing to experience new development, and
additional flows are anticipated to the Wilson's Mills PS. The County is also in the final design phases of
a new WWTP, with associated collection system improvements. The County proposes to replace the
Wilson's Mills PS with a new 1.44-mgd (1,000 gpm) PS. The modified Wilson's Mills PS will pump
wastewater through the existing Miles FM to the existing Central Johnston County WWTP until the new
WWTP is online, at which point the wastewater will be routed to the future Buffalo Regional PS and to
the new WWTP.
