Doug,
Kenny and I looked over the plans you forwarded and think their proposed plan can work. Since the pond being dredged
discharges back into the Catawba river, we recommend the contractor uses a flocculent or filter medium prior to return
the water to the existing pond. This will reduce the turbidity of the discharge that is returning to the existing pond and
that will be discharged into the Catawba River.
Thank you,
Jesse

Hey Jesse,
I was wondering if you could take a look at this and see if that basin he's proposing is appropriate for the project that
he's talking about. If you could let me know that would be most appreciated.

Doug, The stilling basin was professionally designed and measures about 275x140x5. It will hold approximately 7,000
cubic yards, while holding a 2 ft freeboard and containing 5 feet of material. The basin was built by Jenkins Grading after
receiving an erosion control permit from Gaston County. An as -built of the basin was created to be included with the
permit, and a copy is enclosed for your review. We will return the effluent discharge back into the pond being
dredged through a 24 inch corrugated plastic pipe that will be placed in the berm of the containment basin with a
waterstop. Pumping velocities from the 8 inch dredge will approximate 1000 GPM. If you have further questions, feel
free to let me know.
Thanks

Hi Bob,
I had some questions about this dredging application. What are the dimensions of the proposed dredging basin?
Where is it discharging? What is the rate at which you'll be withdrawing the spoil? Have you sent this over to
Gaston County to take a look at?
Let me know,
Doug Perez
