BISER Secretary BRIAN WRENN Director V • N Ile GCYRYats:c NORTH CAROLINA Environmental Quality February 15, 2022 Ward Tank and Heat Exchanger Corporation Attention: Jonathan Ward 6670 East Harris Boulevard Charlotte, North Carolina 28215 Subject: Relief from Monthly Monitoring Stormwater Permit # NCG030591 Ward Tank and Heat Exchanger Corporation Mecklenburg County Dear Mr. Ward: We are in receipt of your February 3, 2022 email requesting relief from monthly monitoring at the Ward Tank and Heat Exchanger Corporation Charlotte plant. Based on past site inspections, including May 19, 2021, and email correspondence regarding copper, zinc and implementation of a TSS abatement plan, the facility is in compliance with the tiered response actions and other conditions of the NCG030591 Permit. Therefore, the Division is granting regulatory relief from the Tier responses. Upon receipt of this letter, the subject facility may resume semi-annual analytical monitoring for the remainder of the current permit term which expires on June 30, 2026. This decision applies only to the copper and zinc benchmarks and is a direct result of the site impacts from stormwater runoff from W.T. Harris Boulevard. A benchmark exceedance of any other parameter listed in your permit will trigger the tiered response actions as described in the general permit. You must notify this office, in writing, within five business days if you become aware of any other significant source of copper or zinc at your facility that has the potential to be exposed to stormwater. The relief granted in this letter is contingent upon the current industrial practices and the TSS abatement plan at the Ward Tank and Heat Exchanger Corporation Charlotte plant. Please retain and append this letter to your Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP) or permit. If you have any questions or comments concerning this letter, please contact me or James Moore at 704- 663-1699. Sincerely, .ameo o"t e for Zahid S.
