Landon Davidson, I am writing today to address the causes of the NOV dated January L0,2022. The Town of Tryon has worked feverishly to keep your office in the loop of all details of our repair to this system. To date, we have over spent over $35,000 in engineering fees as well as another 530,000 in immediate repairs. Receipts can be provided if requested. We truly feelthat the Braewick Road sewer project will solve this issue once completed. ln our many meetings with your office, we have been able to have our engineers at Withers&Ravenel explain our process and goals to your staff as well as others representing different factions of state Sovernment. We are also looking at dredging the pond again. The quotes so far are a minimum of S50,000. Our Water Treatment Plant ORC, Greg McCool, has created a schedule for backwashing that has helped us avoid some of the problems we face at Braewick. We require that our Water Plant contact our Public Works Director before they backwash. The PWD coordinates having staff watch the manhole so that they are prepared for any issue. We hope that regular maintenance will keep the pond in working order. We were successful in our ASADRA grant application. This means we will receive over S2M in grant and loan funding to put toward this project. We secured Withers & Ravenel to oversee the project. We feel that their familiarity with our system will make for a more seamless 301 N. Trade Street. Tryon, North Carolina28782 (828) 859-6656 . Fax: (828) 859-6653 Tryon-nc.com project. They have begun the engineering portion of the sewer replacement. The engineering report and environmental lnformation was submitted on last year. The State Historic Preservation Office required an additional archaeological survey which was completed as well. We should be receiving official approval soon. To move the project faster, we have decided to utilize ARPA funding and funding provided by the Viable Utility Reserve in Governor Cooper's budget in funding the project. Throughout this process, we have been up front and honest about the issues we face. We have also made our best effort to keep in contact and inform your office about our project. We hope that you will find our request validated. lf you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Zach Oll ager 301 N. Trade Street. Tryon, North Carolina28782 (828) 859-6656 .
