RE: Seasonal high-water table (SHWT) determination for proposed stormwater devices
(BMW) for Lane Farm Subdivision adjacent to Wade Stephenson Road in Holly Springs, NC
Mr. Stephenson,
Adams Soil Consulting (ASC) performed a site evaluation per your request on the above
referenced location. The purpose of the evaluation was to determine the depth to the seasonal high-
water table for a stormwater devices (swales). One location was evaluated at each proposed swale
location. A SHWT determination was made for the lower (lower elevation) portion of the swale.
The seasonal high-water table determination was made using soil indicators taken from profile
descriptions made at the site. The soil profile descriptions were made from hand auger borings.
The soil was most similar to the "Norfolk" and Cecil soil series transitioning to the "Bibb" series
in the wetland areas. The Norfolk series is well drained soil found in the Coastal Plain region of
North Carolina and the Cecil Series is associated with soils found in Piedmont region. The clay
mineralogy found in the subsoil was not considered to be expansive in nature and or was
considered to have a relatively low shrink/swell potential.
The seasonal high-water table determinations are summarized in the table below.

It should be noted that the seasonal high-water table determinations were made based on observed
soil indicators and were not measured or monitored. The actual water table may vary from soil
indicators. This report represents the professional opinion of the evaluating scientist of the seasonal
high-water table depth for design purposes.
