Hello Bethany,
The purpose of this e-mail is to notify the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, Stormwater Program, of
a benchmark exceedance at ADM Southport's Outfall #1, sampled on January 16, 2022.
The parameter that exceeded the benchmark was Total Suspended Solids (TSS).
Envirochem Laboratory analyzed the stormwater sample and obtained a TSS value of 99 mg/L. A randomly selected
duplicate (of the same sample) was analyzed and the value obtained was 106 mg/L, resulting in a "mean" TSS value of
102.5 mg/L. The benchmark TSS limit is 100 mg/L.
ADM Southport is reporting the "mean" TSS value for Outfall #1 and will adhere to Tier I protocols.
