As you are aware, we are working diligently to respond to your request for additional
information dated March 2, 2012 This request relates to permit applications currently under
review for the above referenced project In this request you outlined that DWQ would like to
receive this additional information two weeks prior to the date of the public hearing. You also
noted that if we cannot provide the information prior to the hearing that is must be submitted
within 30 days following the hearing The exact date of the hearing has not been established but
the 90 day advance notice was issued on February 15, 2012
Based on the important nature of this additional requested information (specifically the modeling
analyses that will determine the hydraulic, biota and salinity impacts from the discharge) we
would like to have this information to DWQ prior to the public hearing In order to accomplish
this task we will need additional time to guarantee that you have time to review this information
prior to the hearing
The letter serves as notice to your office that Martin Marietta Materials Inc grants the NCDENR
— Division of Water Quality permission to delay the public hearing until such time that it can be
held in conjunction with the public hearing that the DWQ — NPDES Permits Unit will hold for
their draft permit.
