We received some relatively warm rains Thursday and Friday of last week, which resulted in > 1.5 inches of rainfall and a bunch of snow melting/runoff. R-2915E did well, but we did have two locations where sediment overwhelmed basins and likely entered streams. However, I don't think much was lost, largely because the basins did their job. We didn't see any piles of sediment in either stream, so there was nothing collected. However, I bet we probably broke the 5 galloon bucket threshold, so I wanted to report the two locations. The first is at Station 800+00 -L- Lt. There is a small pond below the basin that captured some sediment (photos 0226 and 0234). Overflow from this pond goes through a pipe system and eventually feeds into Naked Creek. Crews investigated Naked Creek at the pipe outlet and reported no obviously piles of sediment. The second site is Station 805+00 -L- Lt, where a basin overtopped and sediment laden water went out over a yard. We are sure some of that sediment made it to the creek, but there was none remaining to pickup in the stream when the flows went down. In this photo, you will see a pile of what looks like sediment right beside the silt fence, but that is actually snow. However, you can see silt all over the grass in the yard beside the stream. We are meeting on site Tuesday to look at cleanup efforts and to review the rest of the project, so I'll follow up if we find other issues.
