SGWASA receive the NOV-2022-DV-0023 notification letter from NCDEQ on January 28, 2022. A written response to your office is required within 15 business days following the receipt of the notification. This response dated February 8, 2022 complies with the requirement. Following is an overview and response by SGWASA to the incident. Incident No. 202102266 (12/14/2021): 315t Street Between East E. Street & East D. Street In accordance with the CS-SSO incident report submitted by SGWASA staff to the Division of Water Resources, the sanitary sewer system overflow occurred due to vandalism -based obstructions (string mop heads, bed sheets, cloth towels, cooking and eating utensils), and large amounts of cooking grease that were placed in upstream sewer facilities (toilets, manholes, sinks, etc.). Due to this ongoing problem, SGWASA staff inspects the manholes and pipe in the general vicinity of the overflowing manhole 2-3 times per month. Additionally, SGWASA staff continues to search for the facilities that are causing these problems so that we can issue a violation notice and take enforcement actions. Based on the information above, I believe it is clear to the NCDEQ - Division of Water Resources that SGWASA is actively and aggressively pursuing the cause of this local problem in our sanitary sewer collection system. Please take this into account as you determine what actions you may take regarding the sanitary sewer overflow that occurred. I look forward to discussing this information further with you. Please contact me at your convenience. Sincerely, Sr0. "' n, 5chvo ,&?, Scott N. Schroyer, Executive Director South Granville Water and Sewer Authority (SGWASA) 415 Central Avenue, Suite B.
