Subject: Waiver of Monthly Reporting Requirement
Church St remediation site

As stated by 15A NCAC 02B.0506 (a) (1) (E), permittees must submit monthly discharge monitoring reports
(DMRs) to the Division, even when there is no discharge from the facility during the reporting period. The
Director may waive this requirement during extended periods of no discharge.
I have reviewed the request submitted by your consultant (Chaz Ganey of Terracon) to suspend monitoring
at the subject facility. Based upon the recommendation of the staff of the DEQ Mooresville Regional Office
(MRO), and the inactive status of the site's remediation equipment, I have agreed to waive the requirement
to submit monthly DMRs for the subject facility, effective February 1, 2022. The DMRs up through
January 2022 should be submitted as usual.
Please be aware that should any discharge occur, the discharge must be monitored as per the terms of the
NPDES permit. Notify the MRO of any pertinent developments that arise regarding wastewater discharge
from the site.
Please also be advised that while requirements for operator visitation, monitoring and reporting are being
waived during the period of no discharge, the permittee is still required to pay the Annual Administering
and Compliance Monitoring Fee that is associated with this and all NPDES permits.
