The following information relating to power outages was provided by Union
Power Cooperative, as requested by your office.
Single family residence : 360 gpd, with system operating 16 hours
per day = 22.5 gph
Union Power Cooperative 5-yr. average power outage = 2.82 hrs.
2004 average outage was 3.44 hrs. We have assumed the maximum
average of 3.44 hrs.
3.44 hrs. x 22.5 gph = 77.4 gallons minimum storage required
Proposed system summary: Total storage from "pump OFF" to
rim = 6.5'-16" = 5.16'
24" diameter wetwell yields 16.23 cf or 121.4 gallons
121.4 gallons of storage provided is greater than 77.4 gallons required,
therefore, we believe that adequate storage has been provided.
Additionally, this will be used as a housing facility for rare events such as
birthday parties, neighborhood meetings, etc. and not as a three bedroom
residence generating 360 gpd. We have used that assumption for this
analysis but it will not likely be realized.

Mr. Lash,
In response to your request for expected annual power outage time for Lot 1A of the Prescott Subdivision in
Waxhaw, NC:
Since no power has yet been installed to the Prescott Subdivision, Union Power Cooperative has no established
outage history for this specific location. However, for the year 2004, Union Power Cooperative's systemwide
outage rate was a cumulative 3.44 hours of outage time per account. For the 5 year period including years 2000-
2004, Union Power Cooperative customers experienced an average of 2.82 hours of outage time, per account,
per year.
Based on Prescott's location and surrounding electric facilities, 1 have no reason to expect that this subdivision's
power outage time should be significantly greater, or less than, the average for our system as a whole.

'The pump impeller shall be of the recessed •

A waterproof •male plug shall be supplied on
the pump power and control cord and shall mat
to a female socket mounted in the junction box.
The pug and cord shall be of the proper size
to handle the voltage and current requirements
of the pump.
• The plug and receptacle shall be of the

female half shall fit like a cork into the flexible

360 gallons per day of domestic wastewater from this project for transmission to the
Twelve Mile Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (NPDES permit number NC0085359)
for treatment. This allocation is intended to serve the above mentioned project.
Due to modification of the previous permit # WQ0028622, dated 3-24-05 of
deleting one lot, we will accept. the 360 gallons per day for lot 1-A.
