Dear Ms. Stephens:
Enclosed is the original and two copies of the permit renewal
application for the above -described discharge permit. This permit involves
the discharge of backwash water from iron/manganese removal filters at two
community wells serving Oakley Park Subdivision in Gaston County. Generally,
one filter will backwash each day onto the ground near the well lot located in
the subdivision with an estimated backwash flow of approximately 1,000 to
1,500 gallons per day.
There is no pretreatment of the backwash water prior to the discharge,
and no solids removal or sludge management plan.
If I can provide further information, please do not hesitate to contact
