The North Carolina Division of Water Resources conducted an inspection of the Sturgeon Facility on
1/27/2022. This follow-up inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with
the conditions and limitations specified in NPDES WW Permit No. NCG530159. The findings and comments
noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report entitled
"Compliance Inspection Report".

There were no significant issues or findings noted during the inspection and therefore, a response to this
inspection report is not required.

Lauren Armeni and Stephanie Williams, with the Asheville Regional Office, conducted a Follow-up
Compliance Evaluation Inspection of the Sturgeon Facility on January 27, 2022. The inspection
was conducted to determine if the system is being operated and maintained in compliance with
General NPDES Permit No. NCG530000. Carson Shields (Facility Manager) was present during
the inspection.
The facility is currently in compliance and is no longer operating a non-discharge system without a
valid permit. The new effluent pipe is connected to the active settling pond, which discharges into
the Yadkin River. A sampling port was installed after the pond to allow easier access for effluent
sampling.
Monitoring and sampling is required per the most recent General Permit NCG530000, which
became effective on December 1, 2021. Please note that some parameters are to be sampled
annually for the first two years of the permit, then quarterly thereafter.
