The Town of Louisburg commits to requiring on-site stormwater management measures and practices for any development within a protected watershed. In addition, the Louisburg Subdivision Ordinance addresses stormwater specifically in approval processes. All zoning permits are issued informing the applicants that land disturbing activities greater than one acre will require a land disturbance permit from the NCDENR -Division of Land Resources. The Town will investigate that such a permit has been issued to any given applicant. Furthermore, the Town refers applicants to the State of North Carolina to assure that Best Management Practices in regards to stormwater are implemented where applicable. Finally, wherever North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has provided stormwater facilities, we require commercial development to seek encroachments from the NCDOT to connect to these stormwater facilities.
