RE: Nationwide Permit 14 Request
Waccamaw Park Improvements; Ash, NC (Brunswick County) a
OUR
Dear Emily: Or Y
The County of Brunswick, Department of Parks and Recreation plans on expanding and upgrading
recreational facilities at the Waccamaw Park, located in Ash, NC (Brunswick County). Improvements
include additional baseball and soccer fields, relocated tennis and basketball courts, a playground, 9 -hole
disc golf course, walking trails, and additional parking. Many of these improvements are needed in order to
meet requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. One of the driveways will cross a jurisdictional
Relatively Permanent Water (RPW), which will permanently impact 0.021 acre (918 sf) of the RPW. On
behalf of the County, we request the issuance of a NWP 14 for this impact. Because no wetland impacts are
proposed and impacts are under 0.1 acre, it is our understanding that a PCN is not required. The applicant
for this project is:
County of Brunswick, Department of Parks & Recreation
c/o Mr. Jim Pryor, Director
P.O. Box 249

Vicinity maps and the site plan are enclosed for your review. Ms. Liz Hair of the USACE approved
the jurisdictional boundaries during a site meeting with LMG on December 3`d, 2013. Please contact me if
you have any questions or need additional information prior to being able to issue a NWP 14. Thank you
for your assistance with this project.
Sincerely,
Kim Williams
