The Town of Jackson owns and operates a wastewater treatment plant located one mile south of Jackson,
off of State Road# 1108, (6223 Bryantown Road).This plant consists of a 5.2 acre storage lagoon and
chlorination facility with a 56 acre spray field.The Wastewater ORC(operator responsible in-charge), is
Johnny G. Young.The Town of Jackson operates this facility under permit number(WQ0000948) issued by
the State.
The Town of Jackson does not discharge any waste/wastewater into any streams. The Town has two
pumping stations in town that pump wastewater into a central force main station which in turn,pumps the
Town's wastewater to the Town's wastewater facility's storage lagoon.
This storage lagoon is commonly referred to as a"facultative stabilization pond". In this system,
stabilization of the waste is accomplished through the combination of aerobic, facultative,and anaerobic
bacteria all acting on the waste matter. In this biological process,the upper layer of the pond contains the
aerobic process,utilizing bacteria that can only survive in the presence of oxygen for anaerobic process of
stabilization. The intermediate zone is partly aerobic and partly anaerobic and uses facultative bacteria,
which are indifferent to the presence of dissolved oxygen in order to accomplish the decomposition of
organic matter.
The Town's storage lagoon has a holding capacity in the pond of 61 days.The Town maintains a freeboard
level of not less than 24 inches,per the wastewater permit issued: September 28,2016.The Town has a
permitted capacity of 203,000 gallons per day of inflow into our facility.

DESCRIPTION OF COLLECTION SYSTEM OR TREATMENT PROCESS
Operation of a 203,000 GPD wastewater treatment and disposal facility, consisting of three on-line lift
stations rated @ 450 GPM,that feeds a treatment facility located off of SR# 1 108 (6223 Bryantown Rd.),
which is approximately one mile south of Jackson. The facility consists of a 5.2 acre storage lagoon and
chlorination system with dual 975 GPM irrigation pumps spraying on 56 acres of wetted spray fields which
are bordered by six monitoring wells on site adjacent to and within the facility's boundary.
