Additional Nitrogen Application Amendment (Facility #31-678)
Facility #31-678 is utilizing coastal bermuda hay as a receiving crop for swine effluent fertilizer
on the farms spray fields. The farm has had one cutting of hay removed and the expectations
are to have one possibly two more cuttings taken from the spray fields. Growing conditions
have been acceptable to produce an adequate crop from these spray fields.
Upon a field visit to the facility on 7/20/2020 the coastal bermuda crop was determined to be in
good condition and exhibiting healthy growth habits. Tissue samples were pulled from the
spray fields on 9/2/2020 and sent to Waypoint Analytical for analysis. The sample results
(attached) show that the current bermuda crop is low in Nitrogen with expectations of having
more hay removed from these fields.
Based on the expectation of having more hay removed from these fields, I would expect there
to be justification for additional nitrogen to be applied to all spray fields. Utilizing the state
approved Nitrogen Factor of 49 for coastal bermuda and an expectation to have approximately
1.5 tns/acre of hay removed the remainder of the season, i would recommend to have an
additional 73.5 pounds of nitrogen applied per acre.

02015) NITROGEN - Deficient or low due to inadequate N fertilization, excessive rainfall, and/or ineffective N application. Additional nitrogen may
be supplied to the crop with sidedress or topdress applications or in irrigation water. Refer to local/state recommendations or contact the
lab for supplemental N recommendations.
02084) Additional nitrogen may be supplied to the crop with sidedress or topdress applications or in irrigation water. Apply at the rate of 20 to
50# per acre. Repeated applications may be necessary.
02023) SULFUR - Less than sufficient due to low soil S and/or when the N:S ratio exceeds 18:1 For optimum growth, maintain the N:S ratio
between 9:1 and 18:1. If low S is detected apply 10-20# of S per acre in the sulfate form with sidedress or topdress. Alternatively, apply a
foliar application of S using 1-2# of S per acre.

Comments:
02015) NITROGEN - Deficient or low due to inadequate N fertilization, excessive rainfall, and/or ineffective N application. Additional nitrogen may
be supplied to the crop with sidedress or topdress applications or in irrigation water. Refer to local/state recommendations or contact the
lab for supplemental N recommendations.
02084) Additional nitrogen may be supplied to the crop with sidedress or topdress applications or in irrigation water. Apply at the rate of 20 to
50# per acre. Repeated applications may be necessary.
02023) SULFUR - Less than sufficient due to low soil S and/or when the N:S ratio exceeds 18.1, For optimum growth, maintain the N:S ratio
between 9:1 and 18:1. If low S is detected apply 10-20# of S per acre in the sulfate form with sidedress or topdress. Alternatively, apply a
foliar application of S using 1-2# of S per acre.
