Currently undeveloped, the site is to be utilized for the development a single-family
residential subdivision. In its current condition the site drains generally from the
southwest to the northeast into the wetlands adjacent to an existing stream which flows
west to east.
Storm water will be collected within the lots via grassed swales which will convey the
runoff into the proposed roadways where it will then be collected into the underground
storm system via curb inlets. This runoff will be conveyed to the proposed wet pond in
the northeast corner of the site. Some off -site runoff from the subdivision to the south
will be collected into a drop inlet and conveyed under the proposed street to a grassed
swale which will transport the runoff around the site and terminate towards the existing
wetlands. Two existing storm water outfalls from the adjacent subdivision will also be
connected to a separate underground storm water piping system that will outlet in the
same area, towards the existing wetlands. The proposed wet pond will discharge into a
stilling basin adjacent to the wetlands at a rate less than the existing runoff rate for the
1-yr storm. The wet pond has been designed in accordance with the latest NCDEQ MDC
Stormwater Design Manual.
