Skvarla, III Secretary The Division of Water Resources received the Year 3 Monitoring Report for the above - referenced site, dated January 15, 2014. The project consisted of stream and wetland enhancement through vegetative plantings and removal of exotic invasives; therefore, no detailed stream channel monitoring (visual only) or wetland hydrology monitoring was required. However, wetland monitoring is being performed, but no performance standards were established for the site. Monitoring of four on -site hydrology gauges plus a reference gauge showed inundation or saturation within 12 inches of the ground surface between 10% and 63% of the growing season (consecutive days). Vegetation monitoring data for 2013 show that two of 15 plots are not meeting the interim performance standard of 320 planted stems per acre. Planted stem densities in the plots were low, with a number of plots containing only two or three species. However, volunteers are abundant and diverse, including a number of shrub species that are characteristic of coastal plain wetlands (e.g. titi, dog hobble, fetterbush). In addition, a portion of the site is located in a former pine plantation area which includes mature pines. DWR recommends a site visit by the IRT to assess vegetation in the various portions of the site to determine if the different portions of the site are on a trajectory toward the desired wetland types.
