Subject: Fast Track Application For the Childress Winery LLC located at 1000 Childress Vineyard Road.
This is the second submittal for this project.
References: 1. Application letter dated 01/10/22 for Fast Track Permit Form SFTA 06-21. Please

11. Fast Track Application FTA 06-21 dated 01/13/22.
This letter serves as the revised cover letter for the subject application for the new sewer line to be
constructed at the Childress Winery LLC located at 1000 Childress Vineyard Road. Please note that this
letter will replace the reference 1 letter and a new narrative is given below.
This project will consist of constructing 1500'+- of new 4" and 6" Schedule 40 Core Foam Pipe to take
waste water from the san sewer lift station at the winery to the Swearing Creek Outfall. This new pipe is
being installed to eliminate the need for the pump station. This new pipe being placed will be gravity flow
only to Swearing Creek Outfall. Waste water will continue to flow into the pump station, but will not be
pumped out. It will exit the pump station by gravity flow to the Swearing Creek Outfall. This outfall goes
to City of Lexington Waste Water Facility. See the reference 2 marked up GIS Photo. This is an
economic decision based on the cost of maintaining the pump station.
The existing 8" pipe, which was constructed in 2004 will continue to receive waste water from the
restaurant which is gravity flow only. Currently some of the waste water going into the 8" line comes from
the pump station and some of it is gravity flow from the restaurant. Therefore the flow in the existing 8"
pipe will be lessened, but it will not become a "dry pipe". It will continue to be used with the lesser flow.
The new 4" gravity pipe leaving the pump station will service only one building. It was permitted by the
City of Lexington and will be used as it has been placed recently. The new 6" pipe being installed will be

permitted by NCDEQ as noted in the above referenced items. This application letter is to be used for the
application process for the 6" line for NCDEQ.
The amount of waste water being permitted and shown on the reference 4 form is 0. No new buildings are
being constructed and the total existing amount of waste water has already been approved. The total
amount of waste water was approved for the 2004 construction of the 8" line and the amount of waste water
is not being increased.
This new 4" line was permitted by the Davidson County plumbing department and is already under
construction. Thus far 75' +- of 4" line and 125'+- of 6" line has already been installed. This new pipe
was connected to the invert (lowest point) inside the existing pump station with the invert of the new 4"
pipe matching the invert of the lowest pipe that empties into the pump station. The waste water will gravity
flow out from the invert of the pump station. The pump station will remain in place, but it will not be used
to pump the wastewater. The waste water that drains into the pump station will drain out only. The pump
station will no longer be used to pump the waste water.
The end of the new 6" pipe is located 200'+- from the lift station and the invert elevation of the new pipe is
2' lower than the invert of the lift station and 6'+- below the surface of the ground. The line is also located
12'+- West of the centerline of the existing gravel driveway leaving the lift station and going Northward
from the lift station. The new line placed thus far has been placed on 1/8" per foot, which is 1%.
The Reference 11 Fast Track Application has been revised as requested to my best knowledge. Please note
that the waste water being added to the system is 0. However Kale Engineering did add the quantities and
the percentages of waste water that were approved in 2003 and 2004 for the previous project. These
numbers were included for informational purposes only and will not increase the amount of total waste
water approved for this system.
I hope this helps explain this project. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 336-
768-0250. We are always glad to hear from you.
