Chapel Hill, NC -Orange County Permit #WI0500414 Dear Mrs. Cohen: A groundwater sample was collected from your geothermal well system and submitted to the Division of Water Resources Water Sciences Laboratory for analysis on October 13, 2021. A sample was collected at the influent tap (sample #AC90246-results attached). The sample analysis report indicates that the following substances (but not limited to) were detected in the influent sample: Copper was detected at 310 parts per billion (ug/L) and zinc was detected at 320 ug/L. The detections of copper and zinc do not exceed the 15A NCAC 02L .0202 groundwater standards established at 1000 ug/L for both copper and zinc. A copy of the test results will be sent to the DWR, Classifications and Standards Branch for an evaluation regarding the water sample and the results will be mailed to you. If you have any questions regarding the results, please contact me at (919) 791-4200.
