Subject: Revision to the LAMA Major Development Permit Application for the Replacement
of Bridge No. 60 (Alfred Cunningham Bridge) over the Trent River on US 70 Business
(East Front Street); Craven County; TIP Project B-2532; Federal Aid Project No.
BRSTP-070B(4); State Project No.8.1172401; WBS 32649.1.1.
Please find the attached the revised copy of the US Coast Guard (USCG) drawing for this project. The
revisions to the bridge are due to the design modifications to the Bascule spans. Each Bascule span is
now 8'6" longer and the total length of the approach spans have been shortened accordingly. The
temporary channel is narrowed from 66' to 51'. The overall length of the bridge is unchanged. There are
no additional impacts associated with this revision; the changes are staying within the footprint of the
bridge.
During construction, the pier of the existing swing span will be utilized as a temporary support for the
new Bascule spans. This detail has been added to the drawings.
