Hi Crystal and Dave,
NCWRC staff have reviewed the PCN for the Sheek Street Upgrades project, which proposes to permanently
impact 35 ft of stream for culvert replacement, riprap bank stabilization, and riprap in the stream channel, as
well as temporarily impact 6’ of stream for dewatering on an unnamed tributary to Leonard Creek in Davie
County. This project will upgrade an existing gravel road to a two-lane paved road. The proposed road
alignment would cross the stream at an angle that necessitates an almost 90 degree bend in the stream in order
to direct it through the culvert. We are concerned about the long-term stability of this alignment and
recommend that the design be re-evaluated to allow a stream crossing that does not necessitate this severe
stream bend.
Andrea
