Box 190 Knightdale, N.C. 27545 919/266 -1100 Fax 919/266 -1149 www.wakestonecorp.com In reference to your letter of January 13, 2014, 1 have asked David Gainey of Soil and Environmental Consultants, PA to address your inquiry concerning "the area of the herbaceous wetland" within which VP -4 (vegetation monitoring plot) is located. Mr. Gainey will provide this information in his discussion of the vegetation monitoring portion of his forthcoming Year 5 Monitoring Report. Although no woody stems were recorded for VP -4 (as you noted in your letter and as has been discussed in the Year 4 and previous monitoring reports), the area surrounding VP -4 is densely vegetated (100% coverage) with various emergent wetland plants. These plant species are thriving in this portion of the restoration site, with the plant varieties representing those adapted to the inundated mucky organic soils present in the area. r 3 aJMQ -,3 2414 Karen Higgins January 28, 2014 Page 2 Even in the absence of woody stems in the portion of the site, we believe our restoration efforts have been 100% successful and that site exceeds all expectations for stream and wetlands enhancement, restoration, and protection as outlined in the Newell Farm Stream & Wetland Restoration Plan. Please let me know if you have additional questions once you receive Mr. Gainey's final monitoring report. Sincerely, Wake Stone Corporation ta* .
