In accordance with our current SOC signed on December 31, 2020, specifically in section 2b (9),
requires the Town of Waynesville to provide semi-annual reports on the mitigation efforts to
address I&I reduction in the sanitary sewer system. The Town of Waynesville has completed
numerous jobs of which some are included in the CIP for the sanitary sewer. Some of the
replacements of sanitary sewer will be in addition to the CIP that was previously submitted.
Below will be a compilation of areas addressed and replaced in since July 1, 2021.

All the above sewer lines were originally terracotta/clay pipe that was replaced with various
sizes of SDR 35 PVC pipe. As previously stated, some of these areas are listed in the ten-year
CIP. A total of over 2,500 Lf of a mixture of 6" and 8" sanitary sewer was replaced in the last six
months to mitigate I&I into the sanitary sewer for the Town of Waynesville. As we move
forward with the upgrades to the WWTP, the sewer maintenance department will continue to
mitigate the I&I issue following the CIP as closely as possible to include other areas of concern
as they arise. We will also be addressing I&I into manholes as we discover those areas. In
addition, the Town of Waynesville is currently working with Haywood Waterways to pinpoint
fecal areas to better identify those sources of I&I.
Sincerely,
Jeff Stines
