The existing 36' L X 25' W timber deck on steel I-beams supported by timber caps on timber piles is structurally deficient and will be replaced with a new singie span, 80' L X 30' W, prestressed concrete box beams supported by concrete end bents on steel piles bridge at the same location. An off-site detour will be utilized during construction. The project involves a small area of hand clearing within wetlands, 60 linear feet of permanent stream impacts (bank stabilization) and 21 linear feet of temporary stream impacts that are necessary in order to construct the bridge to NCDOT standards. The project drainage system consists of shoulder berm gutters to that wili discharge onto concrete flumes which outlet to rip rap dissipato�s outside the riparian area at non erosive velocities. The Bald Eagle is protected in every county in North Carolina under the Bald and Gold Eagle Protection Act; however, no suitable feeding/water source is located within one mile of the project study area to support Bald Eagle habitat.
