4h. Explain the purpose of the proposed project: *
A -200 ft wooden boardwalk is deteriorating and has become a safety hazard to visitors. The park is proposing to remove the boardwalk and place gravel along the 200' path. The area is
already disturbed due to the existing boardwalk, but exists within wetland habitat.
41. Describe the overall project in detail, including indirect impacts and the type of equipment to be used:
The 200' long by 6' wide boardwalk will be removed via manual methods. No heavy equipment will be placed in the wetland because the soils are hydric and sand/muck composition. Once
the boardwalk is removed, 65 cubic yards of gravel will be placed within the same disturbance footprint of the boardwalk. The gravel will be placed 4.5' wide, 1.5' deep, and span the same
200' length.

E. Impact Justification and Mitigation
1. Avoidance and Minimization
1a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project:
Boardwalk will be removed manually to avoid heavy equipment in wetland and hydric soils. Gravel will not be placed outside existing disturbed area.
1 b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques:
Best management practices will avoid gravel runoff into adjacent wetland areas. No heavy equipment will be used in wetland. Project can be accessed
