This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in NPDES WW Permit No. NCG550494. This inspection was conducted to determine if the system is being operated and maintained in compliance with General permit no. NCG550000. The homeowner, Mr. Stewart Gray, was present during the inspection. No deficiencies were noted during the inspection. The septic system is well-maintained and appeared to be in compliance with the General Permit. The simplex influent grinder pump is located on the back side of the house, across the front porch. The control box can be found mounted on the side of the home near the pump. This pump sends wastewater to the septic tank which is located on a cleared path near the head of the driveway. Mr. Gray has the septic system checked regularly and pumped as needed. The sand filter runs along the path towards the water. The chlorination and dechlorination tubes can be found near the end of this path just prior to the effluent pipe. Mr. Gray stated that the system does not discharge and he does not keep chlorine or dechlorine tablets in the tubes. At least one chlorination and one dechlorination tablet should be kept in the tubes when the system is in use. Mr. Gray added a dechlorination tablet and ordered chlorination tablets following the inspection. No discharge was observed during the inspection and the pipe was clearly dry. If the system begins to discharge, annual sampling will be required. NCG550494 17 (Cont.)
