DESCRIPTION OF THE COLLECTIONS SYSTEM
All wastewater is conveyed to the Robbins WWTP via a permitted collection system. The
collection system consists of approximately 8.4 miles of gravity sewer, 1,5 miles of force main,
and three duplex pump stations. And all associated piping, valves, and appurtenances required
to make a complete and operational wastewater collections system to serve the Town of
Robbins. All the wastewater goes to the waste water treatment plant for treatment. The
collections system is operated and maintained by cleaning 10 percent of the system once a year
to prevent any sso's from occurring. We also inspect and exercising all valves, cleaning and
removing debris from the pump station structure, outside perimeter. We also inspect the entire
collection system once a year to reduce the risk of malfunctions and deterioration, operator
errors, and other issues that may cause or lead to the release of wastes to the environment,
threaten human health or create nuisance conditions.
COMPLIANCE PERFORMANCE
The Town of Robbins Collections System and WWTP are regulated by the NC Dept of
environmental and Natural Resources (NCDENR), The Town of Robbins possesses a System -
Wide Wastewater Collection System Permit. The permit requires the town to collect the

wastewater and for it to be treated at the Waste Water Treatment Plant before being disposed
into the receiving streams. The Town of Robbins collections system was a 100 percent
compliant with all of the NPDES permit requirements for the reporting period,
SUMMARY OF PERMIT VIOLATIONS:
The Town of Robbins collections system experience a large spill on 9/30/2010 at manhole # 2
at the corner of North Broad St and Fousher St. Due to Severe National Condition the discharge
was caused by torrential rain which caused flooding which approximately 40,000 gallons of
which was an unknown amount went into tributary to bear creek. As a clean-up measure the
area affected was flushed with potable water and the ground was Timed and covered with
straw, debris was removed also from the collection system to prevent any other further
discharge of untreated wastewater. The Division of Water Quality was notified within 24 hours
under Incident # 2010002687.
