Description of Collection System:
All Wastewater is conveyed to the Robbins Wastewater plant via a permitted collection system. The
collections system consists of approximately 8.4 miles of gravity sewer, 1.5 miles of force main, and 3 duplex
pump stations, associated piping, valves, and appurtenances.
Compliance Performance:
The Town of Robbins Collections System and Wastewater Treatment Plant are regulated by the NC
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (NCDENR). The Town of Robbins possesses a System Wide
Wastewater Collection System Permit. The permit requires the municipality to collect the wastewater and
convey the wastewater to the Wastewater Treatment Plant for treatment prior to discharge into receiving
waters. In 2014 the Town of Robbins Collections System consistently preformed the permit requirements of
collections, cleaning, inspection, reporting, and Public Notification as required.
In 2014 approximately 6,000 feet of sewer line was cleaned by collections personnel to maintain proper
operation of system.
Summary of Permit Violation, Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO):
January. 112014, due to a lightning storm, The Town of Robbins experience purnp failure at the Main Influent
Pump Station on HWY 705 North: The equipment failjure resulted in a discharge of approximately 20,000 of
untreated wastewater into Bear Creek. Public notification and cleanup was performed as required by the
permitting authority.
Additional Notes:
January 13 2014, A.H. Davis Jr. assumed the -position of Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC).
January 17, 2014, Jeffery Vaughn assumed the position of Back -Up Operator in Responsible Charge (BORC).
Detailed notes and inspection logs are on file at Town of Robbins WWTP.
In 2014 the Town of Robbins has contracted the Wooten Company, Engineering Contractors, to assess and
prioritize the repairs to the town's sewer system and pump facilities. A plan to make repairs is currently being
reviewed:Th-ere-is no set date'for repairs to begin, however it is likely that some ofthe repairs will begin in
2015.
