General Information Facility/System Name: Town of Troy Wastewater Treatment Plant Responsible Entity: Town of Troy Person in Charge/Contact: Benny Dennis Applicable Permits : NC0028916, WQCS00134 Description of Treatment Process and Collection System: The wastewater treatment plant is permitted for 1.2 MGD. The plant is an extended aeration system with dual oxidation- ditches -running in -series, -two -final clarifiers -and -ultraviolet disinfection. —The sewer — collection system is comprised of 6" 8" 10" 15" 18" and 21" clay cast iron and PVC sewer piping. The piping system is predominately 6" and 8" diameter pipe with brick and pre -cast manholes. The Town of Troy owns a sewer jet machine capable of washing 600 L.F. of sewer collection pipe. II. Performance Wastewater Treatment Plant The average daily flow from the WWTP was .502 MGD. NPDES monitored pollutants were discharged at well below permitted limits. 33 dry tons of solids were removed and transported to Uwharrie Environmental Landfill. There were no discharges of untreated wastewater for 2017. Sewer Collection System There were no major upgrades to the collection system, only routine and preventative maintenance performed in 2017. There were no reportable spills for the year. The Public Works Dept. cleaned approximately 23,800 ft of sewer line. III. Notification This report will be put on public display at the Troy Town Hall. Copies will be made available to any user or customer upon request. Notice of the availability of the report will be placed in the April water billing. IV. Certification I certify under penalty of law that this report is complete and accurate to the best of my knowledge. I further certify that this report will be made available to the users or customers of the Town of Troy system and that those users will be notified of its availability Benny R. Performance Wastewater Treatment Plant The average daily flow-fromthe WWTP'was .530 MGD. - Due to a malfunction of the Ultra Violet disinfection' system; the plantfexperienced a limit violation for fecal coliform in May: The limit is 200 colonies per"1'00tL and the violation=was for 278 colonies per'100 mL. Repairs were'made to the UV system and the plant was brought back into compliance. 16 dry tons of solids were removed and transported to Uwharrie Environmental Landfill. On 9-17-18 a breach in the equalization basin wall was caused by hurricane Florence. During this event, an estimated 17,000,000 gallons of untreated wastewater was discharged to Densons Creek. NCDWR, NC Emergency Management, and downstream water users were notified immediately. Sewer Collection System There were upgrades on 2 streets in the collection system, Approximately 1600ft of gravity sewer, as well as 7 manholes were replaced on Crouch and Staley Streets. There were no reportable spills for the year. The Public Works Dept. cleaned approximately 24150 ft of sewer line. III. Notification This report will be put on public display at the Troy Town Hall.
