Dear Agency Member:
The NC Department of Transportation(NCDOT)has begun the project development,
environmental and engineering studies for the subject project. Project BR-0090 proposes to
replace Bridge No. 630036 over Fishing Creek on NC 561 in Nash&Halifax Counties. This
project is scheduled for right of way acquisition and construction in state fiscal years 2022 and
2023,respectively.
We would appreciate any information you might have that would be helpful in evaluating
potential environmental impacts of the project. We respectfully request any comments you may
have on the subject project be sent via email to klgillespiekncdot.gov by Friday,January 14,
2022. It is anticipated that a state-funded Type I-A Categorical Exclusion will be prepared for
this project. The project will likely require a Department of the Army General Permit 50 (GP
50).
The project is not proposed to go through the merger process. Therefore, a formal
scoping meeting is not planned. The attached figure shows the project's location and study area.
