PART IV - EVALUATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The Asheville Regional Office recommends renewal of NPDES permit
#NC0051659. As already discussed with the Central Office, the
regional office recommends the waiving permit fee requirement.
Mrs. Slagle has a degenerative nerve disease coupled with other
medical complications resulting in a large expense for continued
medical care and hospitalization. Mr. Slagle's salary of 5.25/hr.
is insufficient to meet these medical costs and maintain a
household. Currently, the couple is experiencing trouble making
note payments on their trailer. While waiving the $120.00 fee
will not actually do much to help their financial situation, it
will help some and relieve some of the mental and emotional stress
these people have been under.
