DESCRIPTION OF TREATMENT PROCESS:
The City of Dunn Black River Wastewater Treatment Facility uses mechanical pretreatment processes to
remove inorganic materials such as rags and sand. An extended aeration biological process is utilized for
secondary treatment. This is followed by clarification, disinfection, and de -chlorination before the treated
water is discharged into the Cape Fear River. Excess sludge is thickened and stabilized before land
application as biosolids to permitted farm sites.
Ii. PERFORMANCE:
The City is in the process of a collection system upgrade utilizing a Clean Water Management Trust Fund
grant and State Revolving Fund loan to help resolve major inflow.& infiltration issues which should result
in lower flows to the Wastewater Treatment Facility. This work is scheduled to be completed in 2011.
2010 Compliance Violations:
February — Average Daily Flow exceeded 3.75 MGD
III. NOTIFICATION:
This report is a matter of public record and will be filed in the City of Dunn — North Carolina
Administrative Office and made available to users or customers of the system. Additionally, this report will
be published in The Daily Record (local newspaper) and run on the City's local government cable channel.
IV. CERTIFICATION:
