This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in NPDES WW Permit No. NCG550292. The findings and comments noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report entitled "Compliance Inspection Report". There were no significant issues or findings noted during the inspection and therefore, a response to this inspection report is not required. This inspection was conducted to determine whether the system is being operated and maintained in compliance with General NPDES Permit No. NCG550000. Mr. Frank Hutto was present during the inspection. Overall, the property and septic system were well-maintained. Mr. Hutto said he has the septic tank pumped out every two to two and a half years. The effluent pipe was laying on the stream bed, but Mr. Hutto was able to lift it up. Ms. Armeni informed Mr. Hutto that he would need to keep the pipe lifted out of the water at all times. As mentioned in the 2016 CEI report, one option is to sever the pipe closer to the stream bank so the pipe sits above the stream bed and out of the water. NCG550292 17 (Cont.) Does the facility analyze process control parameters, for ex: MLSS, MCRT, Settleable Solids, pH, DO, Sludge Judge, and other that are applicable? Comment: Septic Tank Yes No NA NE (If pumps are used) Is an audible and visual alarm operational? Is septic tank pumped on a schedule? Are pumps or syphons operating properly? Are high and low water alarms operating properly? The permittee has Birchfield Brothers pump out the septic tank every 2-2.5 years. The tank was last pumped on April 26, 2021. If effluent (diffuser pipes are required) are they operating properly? The effluent pipe was laying on the stream bed at the time of the inspection, but the permittee was able to lift it out. Is the facility sampling performed as required by the permit (frequency, sampling type representative)? At the time of the inspection, the effluent pipe was not discharging.
