Inspection Summary:
A site inspection was conducted at Dominion Power facility, Elizabeth City, on 08/02/2013. Mr. Matthew A. Mauro,
Dominion Rep, (804)771-4576 was present, along with Patrick Whitehurst, grading contractor. This project is a storage
yard expansion that involves 1.63 ac of new impervious area in a 1.88 drainage basin. Stormwater measures include a
piped collection system that drains to an infiltration basin with an outlet structure that overflows to an adjacent detention
basin that was required by the City for storm surge control.
The overall project is nearly complete with the collection system, infiltration basin & detention basin constructed &
stablized. There was 4-6-inches of ponding water in the infiltration basin at the time of my inspection; however, the
contractor indicated that there were significant storm/rainfall events in recent days. The owner will need to monitor the
ponding conditions in the basin to determine if the infiltration basin is functioning properly (5-day drawndown). An
engineers certification is requried upon completion of the project.
