Since then, I have told Brian that he will have to comply with all permit conditions, including sampling. i 2. Glad to hear that. My impression was that the facility was originally permitted due to its discharge to Trout waters. As stated in the Technical Bulletin, the "Director may designate any cold or warm water aquatic animal production facility a concentrated aquatic animal production (CAAP) facility ". I'll check with the Asheville Regional Office and see if my memory is correct. The designation of the sturgeon as warm- or cold -water fish is moot if the facility was specifically chosen for permit coverage due to the receiving stream. Charles, We have considered your concerns over wastewater infiltration in our latest designs. Farm effluent will be discharged through hard pipes only; 6" sewer drain rated pipe. We purchased these at Lowe's this past week to be ready for installation next week. I have attached our plans to this email. In reviewing the updated General Permit, I have a few questions: Does DEQ consider sturgeon (Acipenser gueldenstadtii) to be a Warm -Water or Cold -Water species? Has the Director designated our facility as a CAAP facility? We do not meet the minimum criteria to be considered CAAP under either Cold -Water or Warm -Water guidelines established in the permit. 3 Regards, Brian Reburn Marshallberg Farm On Tue, Nov 23, 2021 at 9:21 AM Weaver, Charles <charles.weaver@ncdenr.gov> wrote: Brian - the Asheville Regional Office forwarded your repair proposal to the Central Office for review, along with their comments. One change is necessary - the perforated section of drain line in the gravel field must be enclosed. Allowing a perforated line to drain into the surrounding gravel is a type of wastewater infiltration, which the General Permit does not allow - and which the Division does not permit for this type of wastewater. The renewed version of permit NCG530000 is attached. You may begin using this version immediately. Please discard any old versions of NCG530000 that you have. Because there have been no changes to the discharge from your facility, a new Certificate of Coverage is not necessary. PLEASE NOTE: as part of the Division's conversion to paperless communication, this email is the only notification you will be sent regarding the CoC renewal. No hard copies will be mailed.
