Box 16286 Greensboro, NC 27416 RE: Industrial Compliance Inspection Inspection location: Chemol Company, Inc. 2300 Randolph Ave. SW Permit #: NCS000048 Dear Mr. Newlin: On October 12, 2021, the City of Greensboro Stormwater Management Division completed an industrial compliance inspection of Chemol Company, Inc. Local regulations permit an inspection of industrial facilities under authority granted by City of Greensboro Code of Ordinance Chapter 30, Article 12, Section 7.1 (C-5). This inspection consisted of two parts: a review of the facility files/records and an on -site facility inspection. The inspection was performed by Blake Strumbel and Peter Schneider, and the following deficiencies/observations were noted during the inspection. Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan/Spill Plan Review Site Maps and SWP3 • The last annual non-stormwater discharge certification was conducted in 2017. It is recommended that the facility incorporate this into its inspection program. Spill Prevention and Response Plan • No deficiencies noted. Monitoring • No deficiencies noted. PO BOX 1170 ! GREENSBORO NC 27402-1 170 • WWW.GREENSBORO-NC.GOV • 336-373-CITY (2489) WR 5035 Employee Training • No deficiencies noted. Site Inspection Preventative Maintenance/Good Housekeeping • A leaking, decommissioned grease container was noted near the railroad spur. It is recommended that the fugitive material, and the container, be collected and disposed of accordingly. • Grease was also noted on one of the berms located near the main plant. The grease was likely deposited by continuous use of this berm section as ingress/egress to the diked area. Should a rain event occur, the material located on the outer edge of the berm would flow into the stormwater system. It is recommended that the trekking of material from inside the diked areas be addressed and that the material present during the time of inspection be cleaned up and disposed of properly. Non-Stormwater Discharges • No deficiencies observed. It is recommended that Chemol Company, Inc. take appropriate actions to correct the noted deficiencies. If you have any questions concerning this inspection, please contact me at (336) 373-7665 or at blake.strumbel@greensboro-nc.gov.
