Local regulations permit an inspection of industrial facilities under authority granted by City of Greensboro Code of Ordinance Chapter 30, Article 12, Section 7.1 (C-5). This inspection consisted of two parts: a review of the facility files/records and an on -site facility inspection. The inspection was performed by Blake Strumbel and Peter Schneider, and the following deficiencies/observations were noted during the inspection. Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan/Spill Plan Review Site Maps and SWP3 • A Site Map was present during the time of the inspection. However, key features of the site were not depicted. It is recommended that the Site Map be updated to mirror the requirements laid out in the facilities NPDES Permit. • An annual certification program needs to be instituted and should outline the inspection of the facilities outfalls for nonstormwater discharges. Spill Prevention and Response Plan • The facility ensures that all employees know what actions need to be taken in the event of a spill through various employee trainings. However, it is recommended that a dedicated, written spill prevention plan be generated. PO BOX 1170 • GREENSBORO NC 27402-1170 • WWW.GREENSBORO-NC.GOV • 336-373-CITY (2489) WR 5035 Monitoring • No deficiencies noted. Employee Training • No formal training program is in place regarding the facilities SWPPP. It is recommended that a training program be created which covers all of the required information laid out in the facilities NPDES Permit. • It is also recommended that training logs are utilized for each annual training in order to record training attendance. These logs should be maintained in the SWPPP for future evaluation Site Inspection Preventative Maintenance/Good Housekeeping • Continue to communicate with the owners of the metal spools stored in the facilities parking lots in order to facilitate there removal. Non-Stormwater Discharges • No deficiencies observed. It is recommended that General Dynamics take appropriate actions to correct the noted deficiencies.
