Used for recreation Residential, undeveloped, etc. 6. Property Size .34 acres Acres 7. Describe proposed work (include discussion as to how hardening of shoreline has been avoided, or why it is necessary): The shoreline along our property has a lot of natural rock to help control erosion but there are sections where the rate of erosion and wildlife (muskrats) disturbance has increased the erosion specifically at the shoreline behind our boathouse, to the point where the structure that supports stairs to the top of the dock will be compromised if not addressed. Several contractors have looked at the site, which has a steep grade to the waterfront and suggested removing about a half dozen scrub trees to access the shoreline, dropping rip rap rock above the buffer zone and manually wheel barrow materials, using large rocks as well as smaller rocks to backfill. Since there is natural stone and a steep drop off, we have contacted Duke Energy to consult as to the approach and amount of stone needed to address erosion (contractor estimates 6 loads) both below and above pond and will adjust as to their specifications. More rock and backfill will be required where the erosion is worst (behind the boathouse) and the intention is to use as little as possible in the areas where the natural stone is doing a good job to minimize erosion. 8. How will the work be done?* From Land From Water 9. Total amount of disturbance below the normal pool lake level/ normal water level: * (including all clearing, back fill, excavation, rip rap, retaining walls, etc.) approx. 225 sf (75' of shoreline X 3' below water square feet 10. Total amount of disturbance above the normal pool lake level/ normal water level and 50 feet land- ward: * (including all clearing, back fill, excavation, rip rap, retaining walls, etc.) approximately 400 sf for rock placement above normal lake, removal and replanting of scrub trees to provide access to the waterfront by wheelbarrows square feet 11. Please describe the vegetation above the normal pool lake level/ normal water level and 50 feet landward to be impacted:* (number of trees, for instance) Some small/scrub brush (e.g., holly bush, small scrub pine, Virginia Creeper vine and raspberry overgrowth) on the south side of the stairs leading to the boathouse will be removed to allow wheelbarrow access to the shoreline Sketch: Application Fee: Once the application has been accepted.
