The proposed grant -funded project seeks to improve water quality
along an unnamed tributary to Little Lick Creek, a tributary to Falls
Lake in Durham, North Carolina on the Grove Park Homeowners
Association (HOA) properties (the Site). Little Lick Creek is a direct
tributary to the Falls Lake Reservoir and state -designated as nutrient
sensitive waters. This project aims to improve the water quality of the
existing degraded stream channel through restoration practices.
Water & Land Solutions, LLC (WLS) understands that the Site
(N35.976181 °, W-78.811637 °) is experiencing excess vertical and
lateral erosion that creates additional sedimentation into the nutrient
sensitive Falls Lake Reservoir. With funding from North Carolina
Land and Water Fund (NCLWF), Triangle J Council of Governments
(TJCOG), and North Carolina Division of Water Resources (NCDWR),
Durham Soil and Water Conservation District (DSWCD), and
Piedmont Conservation Council, Inc. (PCC) proposes to complete the
construction of 6,000' of stream restoration in order to reduce
sediment into the Falls Lake Reservoir.
