Explain the purpose of the proposed project: * The proposed Saucepan Bay subdivision will be a single family residential neighborhood located at the intersection of Brick Landing Road SW & Log Landing Road, near the Town of Shallotte (see vicinity map). Access for the proposed subdivision will be from Log Landing Road. The proposed development will provide additional housing in one of the fastest growing metro areas in the country, with convenient access to local schools and businesses of the greater Brunswick County area. 4i. Describe the overall project in detail, including indirect impacts and the type of equipment to be used: * In order to meet the viable economic needs of the new development, H & H Homes is proposing to construct six road crossings over jurisdictional wetlands along with fill to allow access throughout the property, as well as two temporary impacts for utility construction. A Nationwide permit was originally issued for this property on September 19, 2014, SAW-2007-00241, but it has since expired. The proposed road crossings and fill will require impacts to acres of jurisdictional wetlands. The project area is defined as 75.91 acres which includes 3.20 acres of jurisdictional freshwater wetlands and 1.80 acres of Territorial Seas (saltmarsh). 5. Jurisdictional Determinations 5a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project: The proposed impacts are unavoidable due to the location and distribution of wetlands in relation to the road access from the project entrance. Minimization of unavoidable wetland impacts associated with road crossing were accomplished by aligning access perpendicular to wetland at the narrowest point. 1 b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques: The applicant has chosen to limit wetland impacts to only those unavoidable to meet the project purpose. Best Management Practices shall be employed during construction to minimize erosion and the migration of sediment off -site. These practices may include but not be limited to the use of mulches, geotextile fabric, hay bales, silt fence and other devices capable of preventing erosion and the migration of sediments off -site. 2.
