Describe the existing land use or condition of the site at the time of this application: * The property has been utilized only as a single family residential application. Within 50' of the shoreline native trees, grasses, and weeds have existed. Most recent as 2017, a DBLW MH was present along with an approved septic system, county water, and electricity. The SF dwelling construction process began in May 2021 with completion projected by June 2021. Existing pier to be removed in 2022 and new pier constructed within close proximity to existing footprint. Residential, undeveloped, etc. 6. Property Size 0.5195 acres Acres 7. Describe proposed work (include discussion as to how hardening of shoreline has been avoided, or why it is necessary): Grading of Shoreline in preparation for rip rap installation to prevent soil erosion. Also, remove small, damaged/diseased trees witihin 50' of shoreline. To date only foot traffic has been utilized within 50' of shoreline to prevent compacting/disturbing the soil. It is important during clearing, grading, and rip rap installation to prevent hardening of the soil. Soil structure is important in the fiiltering/drainage of surface water. Preventing soil compaction will eliminate/limit soil erosion and thus water contamination. A retaining wall, with proper fabric, pipe, rock and clean dirt back fill, may be necessary at approx. 40'-45' plus from shoreline up the hill to assist with slowing water runoff coming from Sugar Loaf Rd - which is due to the natural lay of the property. Measurements using aerial GIS image show the retaning wall to be outside the 50' distance from shoreline. A construction corridor will be utilized on the right side of the property and discussed with grading contractor prior to start of the job. A 4-6' path may remain and gravel/concrete used to provide access to the shoreline upon the deeded land. This will depend on contour of land once trees are removed and grading complete to make it blend as natural into the landscape. The existing septic system and lay of the land dictate the corridors location. Shrubs, native grasses, mulch and a fabric/rock lined drainage trench (if necessary) will be used to prevent soil erosion. 8. How will the work be done?* ✓ From Land From Water 9. Total amount of disturbance below the normal pool lake level/ normal water level: * (including all clearing, back fill, excavation, rip rap, retaining walls, etc.) 426 square feet 10. Total amount of disturbance above the normal pool lake level/ normal water level and 50 feet land- ward: * (including all clearing, back fill, excavation, rip rap, retaining walls, etc.) 4,000 sqft square feet 11. Please describe the vegetation above the normal pool lake level/ normal water level and 50 feet landward to be impacted: * (number of trees, for instance) Small and large trees. Plan to leave 4-5 mature White Oak trees within 50" of shoreline, and remove small scrubby pines and thorny bushes and weeds. At least one dead and rotten tree to be removed along with other trees that have trunk rot/damage. Weeds and grasses are present covering the soil. Approx. 12 - 15 trees are currently within the 50' of shoreline. Several along bank are leaning and have exposed roots due to bank erosion from boat traffic and storms.
