| recommend allowing a preformed scour hole in your situation because | think it is the appropriate treatment for your
client's site. We allow it to be used by the DOT and I think this technology would meet the nutrient removal conditions
in the Tar-Pamlico NSW rules. I will be working on creating criteria that would enable use of this technology in other
situations similar to yours where there is very low nitrogen contributions. See chapter 4 in the attached document for
the specifications for using the scour hole. Call if you have questions. Also, please check your slope calculations tomake
sure the 1Ocfs/secQ1O will not be exceeded as specified in the DOT manual.

I received your profiles. I'm leaving now but will look at them Monday. I have received permission to not require the
level spreaders on the site as long as we can show that diffuse flow will occur. I was leaning toward using preformed
scour holes.
