The current and future design flow of the plant is 0.250 mgd. The plant operates under NPDES permit #NC0026913 and no relocation of the existing discharge point is anticipated. I have also attached a topographic map showing the existing discharge point on the Little River. Please return your determination as soon as practicable so that our review of the Sparta 201 Facilities Plan can be concluded. If you need any additional information please contact me at 3-6900. Little River at the point Sparta discharges is a Class "C" stream. However, the dilution factor does not require Sparta to chlorinate. The plant upgrading does not include an increase in flow. As the plant is not a dual train facility and during renovation the existing treatment system would be taken out of service, it is suggested that the new sludge digestion tanks be built before existing plant renovation begins. This should allow for at least marginal treatment during that interim period. This may extend the construction'sbhedule and will need to be considered. Call if you have any questions on -these items.
