State Project 17BP.7.R.141 (SF-780280) involves the replacement of
the existing NCDOT Bridge #780280 on SR 2670 over Little
Troublesome Creek. Bridge #780280 consists of 1 @ 23’-0”
reinforced concrete slab with mass concrete abutments. The
proposed culvert will be 2 @ 13'-0" x 12'-0" RCBC with beveled
headwall with 1.0' sill in the north
barrel and 2.0' sill in the south barrel. The crossing is located in Zone
AE of FIRM Map number 3710890400J and was studied by
Redelineated (Pre-Preliminary) methods. The proposed culvert will
provide more hydraulic opening than the exising bridge. No deck
drains are proposed. The proposed culvert was sized to
accommodate a detour alignment
to maintain traffic during construction of the proposed structure and
demolition of the existing bridge.
