Haywood Bridge 430237 Replacement (State Project 17BP.14. R.177)
Haywood County, North Carolina

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) requests your review and any
comments on our archaeological screening that was conducted for the replacement of bridge no.
430237 over Sorrell Creek on SR 1129 (Little East Fork Road) in Haywood County, North
Carolina (see maps). The project area has approximate center coordinates of -82.897838 W,
35.400767 N. The project will be state-funded project with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
serving as the lead for compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
(NHPA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

The project has been reviewed under NCDOT’s programmatic agreement between the FHWA,
NC Historic Preservation Office, US Forest Service, and others. Qualified NCDOT
archaeological staff rendered a determination of “No Archaeological Survey Required” as noted
in the attached report form.
