Inspection Summary:
Site visit conducted in response to submittal of NOI for coverage under the NCG020000 General Permit. Per the NOI, mine
is existing and operations began in 2016. Mine operator has submitted an application for modification to the mining permit
for expansion, which will require two basins for sedimentation control during initial land clearing/disturbance. NOI indicates
two stormwater only outfalls associated with the two sediment basins. There is to be no mine dewatering or process
wastewater discharges. At the time of the site visit, basins have not been constructed and the area of mine expansion is an
undisturbed wooded area. Staff with the Fayetteville Regional Office have no objections to issuance of coverage under the
NCG020000 permit for the subject facility.
