Notes, Sketch, Action Items, etc.:
FIELD REVIEW:
Technical proposal site visit.
Background: Chewalcla soils. No tiles, a lot of ditching. Jurisdictional area not proposed for credit. Main stem is Reedy creek.
Smaller trib drainage areas are 100 acres (5100) and 60 acres (5101). No easement breaks and getting full floodplain. Has a
powerline easement on upper part of Reedy creek. Landowners own above utility, the bottom goes off property boundaries. All
streams are perennial. Will need to get a construction easement from other property owner and let them know they are moving
channel off of their property. Future development going in.
Started at S100. Culvert under the driveway will stay. Stream will be raised so the culvert will not be perched. A plunge pool
culvert would also be appropriate. Recommended pre -gauges along the floodplain- potential for wetland credit later. Would likely
be creation. Discuss in the MP. Could also do a wider buffer credit in lieu of that. Will likely need to bring in material for
restoration (wood).
Upper Reedy Creek- discussed starting the project and extending easement above the powerline (approx 200-300 LF) so that the
restoration can begin further upstream. Overall IRT (Erin and Casey) did not disagree with the approach. Recommended adding
wider buffers if possible. Section had little to no bedform.
W01 (walked by Todd, Kim, and George) USACE agreed with the delineation and the JD was verified.
IRT discussed that stream credits at the confluence of S100 and Reedy creek need to be calculated from top of bank or wetted
perimeter to avoid double counting credits.
Middle/lower Reedy creek: noted beaver activity. Will need to discuss management plan in MP. Kudzu will also need to be
treated along this reach. Kudzu is also along the adjacent property. To fill the old channel a significant amount of fill will be
needed. WLS anticipates it to be locally sourced on site. Removing crossing. A lot of cinder block.
Soil plug in HS01 (along the eastern end of the project) was hydric.
IRT recommended showing ditches on a map. Question whether ditch near HS02 is jurisdictional because it connects (follow up
with Chris).
WLS to follow up with Olivia or Travis to discuss mussels.
S101 has flow but is 60 acre drainage- recommended flow gauge.
Vegetation: No reference wetland yet. The spp need to be appropriate community for the area- not just to meet vigor standard.
Diversity is also important.
Manage kudzu and privet.
Include in the adaptive mgmt plan for storms and constructions for repair with this being a larger system.

Their notes look pretty good to me. The only thing I did not see mentioned was adding a map of the ditches on site.
There was a ditch near HS02 that we questioned whether or not it was jurisdictional because it connected. Our notes
are attached.
Thanks,
Casey
